The work of Peter Nikoltsos presented at the project space of six d.o.g.s. is a strict typology, in the spirit of Straight Photography, of pictures of minor damages on cars caused by accidents such as benders, dents, scratches etc.
This is his first self-curated one person show in Athens, a project that started as a documentation on the fringe areas of southwest Athens. The original concept progressed into focusing on a characteristic feature of Athinon Avenue and its adjacent streets, that of a car culture. Numerous car shops, pimped up machines for daredevils and debris and evidence of fatal or near fatal crashes after illegal races.
In these images the photographer chooses to present us with the details of “near misses”. The small scars that bare proof of our imminent survival after an accident.
