This presentation is an attempt to reflect the indifference—both real and perceived—in the art world as an avatar of society at large. When discussing indifference, one must be both cautious and confrontational. Indifference, in its nature, is loose clothing for more aggressive feeling. an abstraction may be antiquated in the same way that thoughtful gesture is, but at its core an act of creation is an act of care. Present-day Athens, polarized and conflicted in its own sense of indifference, is an environment that is ripe for this discourse: Why does one try and how does one show it?
NOT MY BRIDGE NOT MY WATER launches the new space with the first Exhibition featuring works by Artists: Darren Bader, Ernesto Burgos, Tony Cox, Brock Enright, Thomas McDonell, Ioanna Pantazopoulou, Matthew Ronay, Peter Regli.
AETOPOULOS’ NEW SPACE is located in the heart of the Commercial Triangle of Athens, inside an arcade, commonly known as a ‘stoa’, (off Perikleous street), in a small ex-jewellery workshop with traditional mosaico floors and island whitewashed walls , one is confronted with a small surprise.
The new art space brings life to a forgotten and vacated Athenian stoa. It shakes and awakes the vibrant activity that took place and creates a new addition , a new conversation that will endure and progress.
