Lila Papoula’s individual painting exhibition entitled “What Remained” opens on Thursday, October 16 at Skoufa gallery. Lila Papoula’s projects, characterized by her almost “automatic” writing, constant interferences, palimpsests, but also the texture of textures, are all redolent with subtle nostalgia—but not sadness—and although the ruins are loaded with abandonment, there is still a sense of decay with indelible stigmata of banal everyday life of the people who once lived in them, who are present through their absence.
