Be There! Corfu Animation Festival 2015 is a four-day celebration of animation for artists from all over the world that takes place in the capital of the Ionian islands between 15 -18 October 2015. In this year’s competition program there will be 90 films from 48 countries; among them, we find the Cannes Golden Palm awarded short film “Waves ’98” by the Lebanese director Ely Dagher, the Oscar award nominated “A Single Life” (Job, Joris & Marieke, Holland, 2014) as well as a film by the Russian director Konstantin Bronzit, “We Can’t Live WIthout Cosmos”.
This year’s program also stands out for the presence of exceptional artistic personalities; the accomplished artist Theo Ushev (Σhe Sleepwalker), Michaela Pavlátová (Different Kinds of People), while for the first time Be there! “hosts” two films from China (Missing One Player, Lei Lei και Let’s Wait Together, Weiyu Wang). This year’s edition hides some little treasures such as the Spanish stop-motion film “Pos Eso” by SAM in the featured film sector, the new film Cheatin’ by the American Bill Plympton as well as 8 excellent films from Greece and its animation market.
According to the artistic director of the festival, Vassilis Kroustallis, “our selected films this year are not only exquisite overall, but also reflect daringly (and with much satire) facts and situations consistent with our 2015 festival theme, The Many Faces of Europe”.
