The exhibition ‘Family’ attempts to record the turn of many contemporary photographers to their personal environments. It’s a turn to a field which for many years had been abandoned and limited – perhaps even with some contempt -, the so called snapshot and amateur photography. The approach of the subject matter is abstract and general, as the title of the exhibition insinuates. “Family” is not an exhibition on family relationships, nor is it a sincere and faithful recording of one’s relatives. Here faces, homes and objects are portrayed, which simply refer to what constitutes the sense of a family. The exhibition includes 33 photographers with a total of 300 photographs.
