This house in the settlement of Kamari, on the island of Paros, was designed by architects Natasha Deliyianni and Yiorgos Spiridonos by reinterpreting cubic Cycladic architecture with a modern and minimalist twist. The house and the pool have been positioned on the plot in such a way that one can fully enjoyย its ย amphitheatricalย view on the valley, the Aegan sea and Antiparos. The design of the main terraceโs stairs is an invitation to the water as they leadย ย to the bottom of theย pool, followingย the natural curve of the plot. Another staircaseย leads to the amazingย rooftop and offers a splendid panoramic view of the mountain and the sea.
The architects were focused on expressing a pure design, with simple volumes to meet the ownerโs needs. The owners are a filmmaking / art direction / music composition duo, with a shared aesthetic preoccupation and common language, so they were deeply involved with the design and execution from the projectโs conception. Intimacy, cosiness, and comfort were key elements, and the bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms are physically separated from each other for privacy. As for the living room and the kitchen, conviviality, livability and minimalism were a real obsession when conceiving the interior architecture.ย To decorate their interior, they curated a mix of smart mid-century pieces from emblematic designers sourced from markets, in Paris, Athens and Paros, lending a chic Mediterranean-bohemian style to the house.
