Michail Architects has completed Pets & Cups, a hybrid pet grooming salon, boutique and coffee bar in Glyfada, Athens, conceived as a social space for both people and their pets. Designed and owned by the studio, the project reflects a desire to rethink the conventional pet shop typology. Rather than focusing purely on function, the architects set out to create a calm, curated environment that encourages interaction, hospitality and a sense of community. The interior brings together three distinct functions —grooming, retail and café— within a cohesive spatial experience. Natural materials, soft textures and a warm, neutral color palette are used throughout to promote comfort and ease, while custom-made furniture and carefully considered detailing lend the space a refined yet approachable character. Strategic lighting enhances the tactile quality of the materials and helps define the different zones, allowing the space to feel both intimate and open. The result is an atmosphere that balances sophistication with warmth, accommodating the needs of animals while remaining welcoming to their owners. Pets & Cups represents a new model for urban pet spaces, where design, care and social life coexist.
