Blanc Studio has completed Self the place, an all-day self-service café on Takis Oikonomakis, a lively pedestrian street in the heart of Volos, designed to dissolve the boundary between inside and out. At the core of the project is a tailor-made opening: a large, custom frame that folds away to reveal a continuous built-in bench running from the interior to the pavement. This gesture turns the threshold into a place of gathering, allowing the energy of the street to flow directly into the café. The interior reflects the same sense of openness. A bright white palette creates a calm, luminous backdrop, disrupted by dark oak structures and deep burgundy accents hat add weight and warmth to the space. A ribbed glass screen separates the kitchen without fully closing it off, while stainless steel touches in the furniture and decoration add a subtle, reflective edge. True to its name, Self the place is designed as a setting where visitors can pause, inhabit the space freely and simply be themselves.
