Nestled on the 6th floor of a polykatoikia building in the heart of Athens, the Mavrommataion Apartment by Threshold offers a calm retreat in the city’s heart. The challenge was to counter the noise from surrounding avenues and revive spaces stripped of their original features. However, the apartment’s three terraces reveal stunning views of the park, sea, Acropolis, and the city. Threshold aimed to create a Mediterranean escape amid the urban landscape. To blur the line between indoors and outdoors, reclaimed terracotta flooring unifies the space while triple-glazed olive-tinted windows combat city noise. On the top floor, a spacious pine desk evokes a serene setting. Using a palette of white ceramic tiles and Greek Volakas marble, the kitchen and bathroom offer a peaceful backdrop. The apartment is a modern sanctuary that blends tranquility with Athens’ vibrant energy.
