Dexamenes Seaside Hotel

With Kourouta beach offering a tranquil landscape of clear Ionian waters and golden sand, Dexamenes welcomes guests in old industrial wine storage tanks built in the 1920s and transformed into the light-filled spaces of a modern, design hotel. Nikos Karaflos, the visionary entrepreneur-turned-hotelier and the Athenian architectural practice K-Studio, were responsible for the restoration and sensitive transformation of the abandoned wine factory into a perfect example of original, industrial, yet modern and welcoming architecture. Breathing a new life into the historical, concrete walls of the buildings, the new design compliments their brutality with elegant interventions and transforms their austere functionality into a place of calm, comfort and relaxation. A complementary palette of concrete, steel, timber and engineered glass ensures that new construction elements tread lightly, leaving the existing buildings relatively untouched and retaining their strong presence.
