Shapes Mirrors by LOT Architects

“Shapes Mirrors” are a series of hand-held objects designed by LOT Architects, which are cut out of a single sheet of copper and partially polished to obtain a perfect mirror finish. The raw material alone is transformed into a highly tactile artifact of elevated aesthetics. They derive from a fundamental inherited gestural concept from ancient cultures, that of utilizing a uniform material, a single piece of metal where the sculptural and textural treatment alone gives birth to various different uses. “Shapes Mirrors” are meant to be used within the domestic environment due to the natural weight of the metal, they can be hanged or let flat to be displayed as artful objects while being practical at the same time. Smaller sized pieces can fit and be carried inside a purse, handbag or pocket, and become a portable everyday luxury feature.

The mirrors were designed as part of “Objects of Common Interest” a design project by LOT Architects with the focus on creating objects and installations in search of inspirational moments in materiality, process and concept. The project draws from spatial practices with an artful sensibility to create bold, elemental pieces and inspiring spaces.
