Anastasiou Misseri has restored and extended a listed residence in Kaimakli, Nicosia, converting an abandoned building into a contemporary home. The original house, defined by a central iliakos (sunroom), had been subdivided and altered with later additions. These were demolished to reveal the authentic form, while traditional techniques were used to repair stone and brick masonry, restore decorative features and reconstruct the timber roof with reused tiles. A new steel-framed extension introduces openness and light. Linked by a corridor, the old and new volumes create two internal courtyards and a visual axis from the entrance to the garden. Interiors combine terrazzo, wood, and lime render with handmade clay tiles and restored joinery, while outdoor spaces strengthen the connection between house and Mediterranean landscape. The project blends careful conservation with discreet contemporary intervention, re-establishing the home as both a heritage landmark and a functional residence.
