KARN studio has completed Dyo Exi Deka, a café-bar in Patras that opens itself fully to the life of the street. The 173-square-metre project sits somewhere between a neighborhood café, a late-night meeting point and an informal public room. Pivoting doors, large openings and low thresholds erase the usual separation between interior and pavement, allowing people, light and movement to pass freely through the space during the day. Inside, the studio kept the layout deliberately open. Structural columns loosely organize the interior, while a long visual connection between the entrance and the counter gives the space a calm sense of clarity. Furniture can shift easily depending on the hour, moving from morning coffee to evening drinks and larger gatherings. The team balanced raw industrial details with softer, more familiar materials. Suspended linear lighting, exposed installations and visible metal frames sit alongside brick surfaces, plants and green-and-white tiles that introduce texture and warmth without overwhelming the simplicity of the interior. Natural light enters from two sides through full-height glazing, keeping the café-bar visually connected to the surrounding neighborhood throughout the day. Near the façade, tiled seating areas create informal spots to stop, wait or gather, extending the social atmosphere of the street indoors. The project relies on openness, flexibility and atmosphere to shape the experience of the space. The result is a café-bar that feels informal and lived-in from the moment you enter.
