Athens-based architect Fotini Liakou renovated a 1963 apartment in Pangrati, in collaboration with entrepreneur Aris Gounaris, preserving its original character while introducing contemporary design interventions. The layout retains the main living and dining areas, with the kitchen and bathrooms reconfigured for functionality. A central hearth anchors the open-plan space, while herringbone floors, sliding blown-glass doors, and exterior mosaics were carefully preserved. Exposed concrete in the kitchen contrasts with custom furniture in Greek marble and oak. White walls provide a unifying canvas, punctuated by subtle black architectural details. Furnishings from De Padova, House of Finn Juhl, Bocci, and others are paired with artworks by Domingos Tótora, Paula Bosco, and Dionisis Andrianopoulos, creating a home that balances historical layers with the owner’s personal collection.
