Evripiotis Architects designs its own Paros studio rooted in place and dialogue

Evripiotis Architects’ office on Paros island

Evripiotis Architects has unveiled its new office on the Greek island of Paros, creating a light-filled workspace that reflects the studio’s cross-generational identity, international outlook and close relationship with the Cycladic landscape. Founded in the 1980s by architect Georges Evripiotis, the practice is today led by a partnership between father and daughter, following Angeliki Evripiotis’ studies at Harvard. The studio represents the meeting of two generations who have travelled extensively before choosing Paros and Syros as their base, from where they design projects in both local and global contexts. The new office is conceived as more than a workplace. Instead, it acts as a physical manifesto for the studio’s design philosophy, which prioritises imagination over convention and treats each project as an opportunity to explore unfamiliar territory.

Environmental graphics play a central role in shaping the interior, developed in collaboration with AG Design Agency. The concept, titled “Let’s talk about…”, runs throughout the space as a narrative device, opening a different topic each time – from landscapes and architecture to the Cyclades and everyday moments that spark conversation and creativity. This narrative continues across walls and surfaces, where text and textures are used abstractly to capture small, often overlooked joys of daily life. Rather than acting as signage alone, the graphics become spatial elements that interact with the architecture and guide informal dialogue within the studio. A key feature of the office is a series of handcrafted mosaic blocks, into which the studio’s symbol – the letters G + A – is subtly embedded. Set against white plaster surfaces, the mosaics respond to the changing Cycladic light, revealing gentle shadows and tonal variations throughout the day. The result is a quiet yet dynamic composition that references local craftsmanship while remaining contemporary in expression.
