Tucked within a hidden garden near Corfu’s historic Mon Repos Palace, two 19th-century storage buildings have been quietly transformed into serene guest rooms by Isola Studio founders Chaido Kaproulia and Eva Lavranou. The minimalist renovation blends Mediterranean calm with finely crafted detail. The larger suite features an open-plan layout, with sleeping and living areas divided by fluted glass panels set in solid iroko wood. A restrained palette of white walls, black stone flooring, and rich wood tones—iroko, American oak, and lacquered plywood—creates a warm, grounded atmosphere. All furniture was custom-designed and handcrafted from 5cm-thick American oak, underscoring the studio’s commitment to high-quality materials and meticulous joinery. The smaller room adopts a compact yet thoughtful approach, anchored by a dark green plywood wall unit that conceals storage, a kitchen, and climate control systems. Its color mirrors the surrounding garden, while stone-look beige tiles evoke a Mediterranean courtyard feel. Throughout, the emphasis is on craftsmanship and calm, with each detail designed at full scale and realized by local artisans.
