Visalo Ceramics and Café invites guests to experience craftsmanship and a warm welcome in a Cretan village

After completing her studies in interior design in Athens, Miranta returned to her roots in Askifou, a picturesque village near Chania. There, she transformed an old building into Visalo, a unique ceramic studio and café. The name Visalo, meaning ‘a piece of a broken ceramic object,’ perfectly encapsulates the essence of this creative sanctuary. Miranta envisioned Visalo as a place where creativity flourishes and visitors feel welcome. By combining a ceramic studio with a café, she created an inviting space where guests can experience the beauty of handmade artistry while enjoying a cup of coffee. “At Visalo, almost everything you see and taste is handcrafted”, she says. From the ceramic tableware to the lemonade, bread, dairy products, and honey, each item is a testament to Miranta’s family’s dedication to quality and tradition. Visitors can savor their coffee while taking in the stunning mountain views and witnessing the fascinating process of ceramic creation. Visalo also offers workshops, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the art of ceramics and other creative pursuits like natural dyeing and sewing.
