From the sunlit hills of Crete comes Planet Romeiko, Manousakis Winery’s first sweet wine and a new expression of Cretan winemaking tradition. Made entirely from Romeiko grapes, the only native variety of Chania, this naturally sweet red wine is crafted with care and creativity. The grapes are hand-harvested, sun-dried for days, and slowly fermented with wild yeasts. The wine then ages between two and eight years in old French oak barrels, blending five vintages to create a wine of remarkable depth and complexity. Planet Romeiko reveals rich aromas of dried fruit, roasted nuts, honey, thyme, and soft spices. Its high acidity balances concentrated sugars perfectly, resulting in an elegant and refined sweet wine. Romeiko grapes, renowned for their bright acidity and low tannins, are perfectly suited for this style. The traditional process preserves the grape’s natural balance of sugars and acidity, creating a wine that feels both timeless and modern. A liquid ritual inspired by Minoan myths and the radiant light of Crete, Planet Romeiko invites wine lovers on a sensory journey through history, landscape and legend.
