Named after the phrase “I heard it through the grapevine,” this 19th-century retreat is a place for stories, creativity, and connection. Once home to the current owner’s great-grandfather, it even hosted Saint Nectarios during his early visits to the island. Surrounded by pistachio and olive trees, with fig, lemon, and pomegranate groves, the house blends history with nature. Its 2023 restoration, led by artist Yanis and ceramicist Marina, honored its past while embracing understated elegance. Original wooden floors, hand-painted ceilings, and rustic furnishings were revived, while an old cellar became a cool, loulaki-blue den. The walls tell their own story—adorned with paintings, handcrafted ceramics, and treasures from Brazil to Zimbabwe. At its heart, an old wooden grape press whispers of lively harvest feasts. Guests are invited to explore Aegina’s artisans, workshops, and hidden corners, experiencing the island beyond the postcard.
