Thymi Architects embed stone-built villa into olive groves in Corfu

Exterior view of Villa Beliha embedded in the hillside of north-east Corfu

Villa Beliha is a contemporary Mediterranean home in the countryside of north-east Corfu, designed by Thymi Architects. The project explores a quiet balance between local tradition and modern living. Local stone, handmade bricks and reclaimed roof tiles were salvaged from ruins and carefully reused, grounding the house in the island’s architectural memory. The building is arranged as a series of stepped volumes that follow the natural slope of the land. This approach allows the villa to sit gently within the landscape of olive groves and stone terraces. Terraced gardens planted with Mediterranean species soften the edges of the architecture. Indoor and outdoor spaces connect through subtle transitions. A sequence of atriums brings daylight deep into the plan and supports natural cross-ventilation. Inside, the interiors are restrained and warm. Exposed timber ceilings, stone walls and custom-made wooden elements create a calm and tactile atmosphere. The house presents a contemporary reading of Mediterranean domestic life, shaped by material, light and place.
