A&O Architects revive three traditional cells with understated interiors in Sifnos

In the heart of Chora, Sifnos, A&O Architects have restored three small traditional cells with a light and careful touch. The project began with the simple idea of preserving the character of the existing spaces while gently adapting them to contemporary life. Original elements were restored wherever possible, while new additions were kept simple and understated, allowing the history of the buildings to remain visible. Instead of imposing a new identity, the architects let the existing architecture guide the process, introducing only what was needed to bring comfort and a sense of quiet refinement. The result is a series of intimate spaces where old and new sit naturally together, reflecting the simplicity and timeless character of Sifnos.
