Apartment in Kolonaki reworked with marble, mosaics and stainless steel by Anna Andreou for Resi Company

Living area with original oak flooring and red marble fireplace in renovated Kolonaki apartment

Nested in the Kolonaki neighbourhood of central Athens, the Soutsou 11 apartment has been redesigned by interior architect Anna Andreou for Resi Company as resale renovation. The project rethinks the layout while keeping the apartment’s original character intact. Previously fragmented rooms were brought together, while some areas were divided or expanded to support new uses. The kitchen and bathrooms were rebuilt, but existing storage was updated and reintroduced to avoid unnecessary change. A third bathroom was added in the day zone, designed to work both as a guest WC and a full bathroom when needed. The design takes cues from the building’s Art Deco origins, the work of its original architect Ioannis Antoniadis, and the industrial history of the apartment’s former owners. These references informed a material palette of patterned marble, mosaics, mirror surfaces, glass bricks and stainless steel. Original oak floors, terrazzo balconies and the red marble fireplace were kept in place and paired with new elements to create a sense of continuity. The kitchen was conceived as a distinct but connected space. A checkered marble floor was designed to follow the geometry of the room, while a central stainless-steel counter anchors daily use and extends into a small breakfast nook. Throughout the apartment, colour is used sparingly, appearing in soft tones that respond to light and material. The result is a calm interior that balances careful preservation with subtle transformation.
