Even if we don’t always realise, the objects surrounding us (from an armchair to a remote control and our car) are creations of designers; people involved with industrial design, a field that has not yet been developed in Greece to a level similar to that of other European countries, mainly due to the underdevelopment of the country’s secondary sector.
Yet, Greek designers not only exist but they make their presence felt abroad. Particularly over the past few years, there is a tendency of producing and exporting Greek design products through the internet, social media and alternative methods of funding. The 5th annual meeting for Industrial Design at the Onassis Cultural Center aims to give the opportunity to these creative professionals to get together, discuss their efforts, exchange experiences and opinions and communicate with the wider public.
The event is organized with the support of the +DESIGN magazine. More info is available at www.ntizain.org.
