“Shales”, is a hybrid capsule collection, inspired by the summertime spent in the Cyclades. Created while having the history, the geomorphology, and the culture of the islands in mind, all 5 items feature a different characteristic of profound symbolism and interpretation.

For instance, the necklace – forming a perfect circle around the neck – depicts most of the islands belonging to the Cyclades, surrounding us in the way summer memories do. The organic forms of the land are meticulously captured via digital microsculpting, linked together in one polymorphic 18k gold piece, of seemingly random scattered golden shales, all excellently mismatching one another, like they actually do in reality. The 4 rings (an octopus, a scarab, a bee and a wild olive branch) are carefully hand-sculpted, meant to imitate the fossils left on the shales, as if revived imprints of nature are kept in time.

The collection’s name is inspired by the fact that the jewellery -and especially the CYCLADES necklace- have a flake-like shape of abstract formations. Moreover, in the cycladic islands, shale stones are used to build pathways, fences, even homes. The rough texture of shales and their organic originality is what mainly lies behind the core idea for this 5  piece series capsule, amongst other elements that influenced the artifacts’ design. All items of the collection are made in 18k gold, as they are meant to be passed onto future generations, just like narratives should. “SHALES” is exclusively made in Greece, shipping worldwide.

°’HRIAM sculptural jewellery is designed and handcrafted between Copenhagen x Athens, by the Greek jewellery artist Méri Charitonidi. Sustainable, timeless and unisex, the wearable art pieces derive from complex incentives and heterogeneous stimuli, emitting a vibe of ancestral Mediterranean craftsmanship and effortless Scandinavian harmony.

Founded in 2021, the brand came to life after years of conceptual creativity and contextual practice. The core mission is to support the desire of wearing jewellery freely, opposed to stereotypes of conformity, by celebrating style and daring aesthetics. °’HRIAM jewels are meant to elegantly accompany the everyday corporal experience, by complementing bodily expression, while enhancing personal urbanity. This way, the artifacts become some sort of talisman adornment enclosing the individual’s innermost force through life. Starting from the atelier’s bench, the journey of the items begins with the sole purpose of conveying its possessors’ story, dripping in gold.
