Nestled in the mountain village of Akourdalia, Cyprus, Amarakos is a wellness retreat that bridges the past and present through a sensitive architectural dialogue. Designed by STUDIO ADCH, the project reinterprets traditional Cypriot architecture while introducing a calm, contemporary sensibility. The studio’s approach focused on creating a spatial experience that celebrates heritage without feeling nostalgic. Original stone walls, wooden doors and windows were carefully preserved, serving as the foundation for a renewed aesthetic. Against this backdrop, the studio introduced custom-designed furniture and clean architectural lines, forming a balanced contrast between old and new. Inside, warm woods, tactile materials and soft lighting blend seamlessly with the Mediterranean landscape. Natural daylight gently filters through the spaces, enhancing an atmosphere of comfort. Each room offers guests an opportunity to reconnect with nature, themselves and the layered history of the island.
