In Souroti, just outside Thessaloniki, Slab Design Studio moves at its own pace, somewhere between design practice and everyday life. On the same estate, a small organic olive grove of 45 trees grows naturally alongside the studio, becoming part of its rhythm and thinking. On October 19, 2025, the team harvested 500 kilos of olives, which were taken the next day to a traditional mill in Galatista. The result: 75 liters of extra virgin olive oil, with a low acidity of 0.45%. A small, honest production, shaped entirely by its place. They called the project simply โoilโ, a name that feels as familiar and essential as the product itself. The design follows the same idea. At its center, a handwritten illustration shows a hand reaching out from the studio to pick olives from the grove, capturing the connection between people, place, and process in one quiet moment. Nothing feels excessive. Earthy tones and a simple layout keep the focus where it belongs, letting the story -and the oil- speak for itself. This wasnโt meant to be a commercial product, but a gesture. A small piece of the studioโs world, shared with friends, collaborators, and clients. The packaging stays in the background, doing just enough, much like the oil itself, simple, real, and closely tied to the land it comes from.
