Contemporary Greek Gifting: Makers, Studios & Thoughtful Objects

Thereโ€™s a pleasure in choosing a gift made by hand, an object shaped slowly, carrying the touch of its maker. Across Greece, small concept stores, bookstores and thoughtful ateliers are featuring pieces that feel personal rather than seasonal โ€” the kind of things you didnโ€™t know you wanted a second ago, but suddenly feel impossible to ignore.

Think of this not as a checklist but as a map of where good (Greek) gifting begins.

Alekos Fassianos Museum Boutique โ€” Athens

A quiet, beautifully curated museum shop dedicated to one of Greeceโ€™s most recognisable modern artists. The shelves hold objects that carry Fassianosโ€™ warm, unmistakable line โ€” pieces that feel playful, familiar and distinctly Athenian. All proceeds support the sustainability and growth of the Alekos Fassianos Museum.

What we loved:

The Coffee Goers porcelain mug, a limited-edition piece that brings a touch of Fassianosโ€™ everyday poetry to the breakfast table.

Yannis Sergakis โ€” Athens

The Yannis Sergakis boutique feels more like a sculptural studio than a jewellery store โ€” calm light, soft surfaces, and pieces with a calm, architectural precision. Sergakisโ€™ work blends Greek craftsmanship with a contemporary clarity that sits comfortably beyond trends.

What we loved:

The Cosmic Love 2026 charm, centred on shifting labradorite and available as a pendant or lapel pin. A small, luminous emblem for the year ahead.

Hyper Hypo โ€” Athens

On Voreou Street in Monastiraki, Hyper Hypo is a bookstore that feels like a snapshot of contemporary Athens โ€” curated, curious, and always one step ahead. Its shelves reflect the eye of its founders, bringing together art books, special editions, posters and small-run publications from Greece and abroad.

What we loved:

Doors of Kypseli by Eleanor Lines โ€” a visual archive of 100 wrought-iron door designs from Kypseli. Rendered in striking blue illustrations and paired with an essay by Nikos Vatopoulos, it captures a disappearing layer of the cityโ€™s modernist past.

The Naxos Apothecary โ€” Athens

The Naxos Apothecary brings the wild, herbal character of Naxos into the centre of Athens through a mix of science, design and Cycladic atmosphere. Four open labs sit at the heart of the space, where remedies, skincare and herbal preparations are created in full view. Around them, shelves of over 130 botanicals, glass stills and a quiet upstairs lounge frame an experience that feels part pharmacy, part contemporary studio.

What we loved:

The Eggares scented candle โ€“ a warm, resinous blend of cinnamon, bergamot and clove, layered with labdanum, cashmere woods and a deep base of sandalwood, cedar and amber. A distilled mood of the island in winter light.

A Bloom โ€” Athens

On Archelaou Street in Pangrati, A Bloom feels less like a florist and more like a creative studio. Open since 2023, the shop creates bespoke, free-flowing arrangements, no pre-made bouquets, only compositions shaped on the spot from seasonal Greek and international flowers.

What we loved:

The bespoke floral compositions โ€” each one designed on the spot, tailored to the recipient and the moment. A singular, thoughtful alternative to the standard bouquet.

Ergon โ€” Athens & Thessaloniki

A polished, generous stop for anyone who prefers gifting through flavour, craft and a sense of place. Ergon has become a reliable address for contemporary Greek craftsmanship โ€” a space where food, design and tradition meet. Around the holidays, the brandโ€™s handpicked gift boxes stand out: thoughtful combinations of pantry essentials, sweets, citrus preserves, oils and wines that feel both rooted and modern.

What we loved:

Bord de lโ€™Eau โ€” Thessaloniki

In the heart of Thessaloniki, Bord de lโ€™Eau blends jewellery design with a distinctly architectural sensibility. The studio-store is known for its clean geometry, sculptural forms and a commitment to making pieces that feel both minimal and quietly expressive. It remains one of the cityโ€™s most forward-looking destinations for contemporary craft.

What we loved:

The Lucky Charms 2026 โ€“ Each One Is Unique collection โ€” three pendant designs crafted in 925 silver (with a double gold-plated option) and accented with zircon stones. Each charm features a different arrangement of tiny stones, making every piece unique.

Zeus + Dione โ€” Athens & Thessaloniki

Zeus + Dione remains one of Greeceโ€™s most distinctive contemporary luxury brands, drawing on Greek craftsmanship to create pieces with sharp lines, rich textures and a modern, architectural sensibility. Both the Athens flagship and the Thessaloniki store present a considered edit of leather goods, ready-to-wear, jewellery and accessories that reflect the brandโ€™s refined approach to materials and heritage.

What we loved:

The Arctos cardholder โ€” a compact piece crafted from tobacco leather embossed with the signature spathoto motif. With a suede interior and three slim card slots, it slips easily into small bags and keeps essentials in order with minimal effort.

1OAM Apotheke โ€” Athens

In Psyrri, 1OAM Apotheke has grown into a quiet universe of scent, objects and elemental care. Founded by Eva Papadaki, the studio centers on natural ingredients, minimalist design and products that feel both grounding and contemporary. The flagship brings together skin essentials, incense, home fragrances and herbal blends โ€” all shaped with a distinctly Greek sensibility and a calm, tactile aesthetic.

What we loved:

The Sage & Thyme Mist โ€” a clean, refreshing spray made with 100% natural fragrances and essential oils. Designed for skin, linens or everyday spaces, it delivers a soft burst of herbal clarity that feels both grounding and bright.
